Reliant AstrodomeReliant Astrodome Average User Rating: (0 votes, add your vote or comments) The Reliant Astrodome was the first of its kind, a domed stadium, that was completed in 1965. It is part of the Reliant Park complex. It was home to the Astros MLB at that time. It also prompted the invention of Astro-turf - a 'grassy' playing field that did not require sun. Over the years numerous other sports teams have played at the Astrodome: the AFL Houston Oilers, WWE Wrestlemania, college basketball and football, soccer, and numerous others. The 1992 Republican Convention, religious gatherings, and concerts have also been held at the Dome. More recently, it became temporary housing for victims of Hurricane Katrina. Currently, it is a site for conventions, community, and special events. Tags: reliantastrodome houstonastrodome houston astrodome Top of PageDo you know of a Place that should be included here?
